Anchor Distilling Company
David King is the President of Anchor Distilling Company, where he directs the oldest artisanal distillery in the United States producing two distinct styles of Gin as well as Rye Whiskies. A Master of the Keepers of the Quaich and acknowledged spirits expert, David has had 25 years of international spirits experience.
As the son of a Distillery Customs Officer from Scotland, you could say distilled spirits are in David’s blood. David began his career in the industry on the technical side of beverage alcohol, working with flavor ingredients for major producers in the US. He moved to London in 1989 to run Europe and Australasia/Pacific for J & B Scotch, Knockando Single Malt Whisky, and was on the launch team for Bombay Sapphire Gin.
In 1995, David joined the Edrington Group as Managing Director of Lang Brothers where he ran the Glengoyne Distillery. David and his wife pledged their wedding vows there, in the still room at Glengoyne.
David moved to Berry Brothers and Rudd, the world’s oldest and most prestigious wine and spirits merchant in London in 1999 where he worked on Cutty Sark and The Glenrothes globally. Over the past 10 years and prior to the sale of Cutty Sark in April 2010, David contributed to the sale of over 20 million cases in over eighty different countries.
With Berry Brothers & Rudd, David helmed development of No. 3 Gin, Kings Ginger Liqueur, Pink Pigeon Mauritian Rum.
David is on the advisory council of the World Whisky Festival and frequent speaker at many Whiskyfests worldwide. He is Business Leader of the UK Marketing Society, and has been featured in Marketing Magazine in the UK as well as numerous spirits publications.
