Do I understand correctly? Are they releasing a work in progress whisky?

    • John Hansell says:

That’s the way I read it. Maybe I should have made that the subject line, and not the “opening day”. Maybe it will be like the Ardbeg progression that we saw the last several years.

  2. John Hansell says:

I added the info on the new release to the subject heading.

  3. Bob Townsend says:

John, is that new release happening in the USA?

    Slainte,

    Bob

    Hi John,
I know Peter will fill you in on the availability of the new releases, but untill then heres some info that I heard in an interview between Peter and Mark Gillespie at Marks WhiskyCast.
The Kilkerran will be a 1500 case release as a 5 year old. Then yearly till it hits its standard year which is planned as a 12 year old.
Other releases planned this year are: an 18 yr. Springbank,a 12 yr. Hazelburn, this years “wood expression” is a Springbank thats spent 11 years in Madiera, there is also a release of a Campbeltown Loch 30 year.Anyone thats lucky enough to be in that area at that time of the year is in Malt Heaven: May 21 Campbeltown,May 23 Islay Music n Malt Fest and a stop at Willie Tates Jura before you return!

    Hi guys,

Just to clarify a couple of things regarding our Open Day (not opening day thankfully, we had more than enough work in opening up five years ago without having to do it all over again!) on Thursday 21st May:

May has been designated as Whisky Month by the people behind the Homecoming Scotland initiative and the open day is part of our contribution to that. We’re holding it on the Thursday prior to the start of the Islay festival as we know there will be lots of whisky enthusiasts in the area around that time.

Visitors to the open day will be able to fill a bottle of Kilkerran straight from a specially-selected cask. This whisky will only be available to those who make the journey to Campbeltown to come and visit us.

However, on the same day we’ll also be launching Kilkerran Work In Progress, the first in the series of releases that Mike mentions above. There will be between 1500 and 2000 cases of WIP and it will be available worldwide, including the USA.

Hopefully this clears things up a bit.

    Cheers

    Ranald

Ranald, Thank you for the update and answers to our reader’s questions. And I updated the post to say “Open Day” which is what I meant to say. Thanks for catching that.

“Work in Progress” sounds exciting, as does filling a bottle straight from the cask.
