New Jefferson’s Presidential Select 17 y/o

July 7th, 2009

There will be a new bourbon in the “Jefferson’s” line of bourbons. I believe this one is the oldest. The official age statement will be 17 years old, but it’s actually almost 18.

Bourbon enthusiasts will be pleased to know that this “wheated” bourbon is from the silent Stitzel-Weller distillery, so there is definitely a rarity value to the whiskey.

Approximately 2100 cases (six bottles per case) of the whiskey will be bottled next week at 94 proof. Kentucky will get more product than any other state. It will sell for about $90.

They’re sending me a review bottle as soon as it’s bottled. I’ll let you know my thoughts as soon as I taste it. I am really looking forward to it.

Nice! Will look forward to the review. How short is the supply from S-W these days, John? Has to be getting close, I’d think.

Sam, yes, from the top of my head, I believe that this was near the end of the production at S-W. Hopefully you will get to taste it at the Malt Advocate party in nine days.

Here’s more information I just recieved via a press release:

Louisville, KY – August 18, 2009 — McLain & Kyne distillers announce the release of Jefferson’s Presidential Select Bourbon, bottled during the last years of production of Louisville’s renowned Stitzel-Weller Distillery. Bottled at 94 proof, this ultra-rare, ultra-premium, 17-year-old bourbon is a limited offering complementing the existing line of Jefferson’s bourbons, Jefferson’s and Jefferson’s Reserve.

Produced by what many consider to be history’s finest bourbon distillery, Stitzel-Weller, Jefferson’s Presidential Select is a truly superlative offering. Trey Zoeller, founder of McLain & Kyne, comments: “The discovery of these rare Stitzel-Weller barrels is a coup for bourbon connoisseurs everywhere, who will undoubtedly discover in Jefferson’s Presidential Select a spirit that more than lives up to the fine reputation of its distillery.”

Buy it, you wont be dissappointed.
