John Campbell (Laphroaig) Kevin Smith (Maker’s Mark) and me LIVE in two weeks

September 11th, 2009

I’ll be with John Campbell (Distillery Manager of Laphroaig) and Kevin Smith (Master Distiller of Maker’s Mark) at the Maker’s Mark distillery two weeks from tonight. We’ll be doing a LIVE Webcast at the distillery on September 25, 2009 @ 8pm EST.

This should be fun. If you’re not doing anything at that time, tune in. We’ll be tasting Maker’s Mark bourbon, as well as several Laphroaig expressions (including the new 18 and 25 year old whiskies). Here’s the link to the site with all the details.

I’ve now seen three times for the event:

You write 8pm EST (I believe Eastern Standard time?).

The press release just says 8pm ET (Eastern Time? Extra Terrestrial?)

On the webcast site http://www.distillerylive.us.com/ it says 20:00 hrs EDT (I believe Eastern Daylight Time?)

In particular EST and EDT I believe are two different times, an hour different.

In other words, I confused. Very confused. And that’s before trying to convert it to BST.

  2. John Hansell says:

It’s 8PM here on the east coast of the U.S. I assume that’s 5 hours later on Islay? (1 AM Saturday, BST). I hope that helps to clear things up.

  3. Mike says:

ET is Eastern Time zone and leaves Standard versus Daylight time implied given the date. Since Daylight time ends Nov 1. 2009 in the US, ET or EDT is correct. Hope that helps :)

There’s a link on the Distillery Live website which gives the time in lots of different time zones – that should help if like me you can’t work out all the different time zones! (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=9&day=25&year=2009&hour=20&min=0&sec=0&p1=179)
