A big “thank you” for commenting

December 16th, 2009

WDJK is a highway in which ideas are discussed and exchanged. Without your comments, and your insightful thoughts, this blog would much more one-dimensional.

I was just checking my stats plug-in. I’d like to take a moment to recognise  the top ten people commenting here, in descending number of comments:

Sam K
Red_Arremer
B.J. Reed
Louis
butephoto
Neil Fusillo
two-bit cowboy
Todd
bgulien
J.C. Skinner

Thanks guys.  But keep in mind, all your comments matter, even if you only contribute a few times a year. And for those of you who haven’t yet, what’s holding you back? There’s no wrong comments here.  Don’t be shy.

P.S. What are you opening this Christmas?

  3. B.J. Reed says:

My pleasure John – Thanks for putting up with us.

Luke, see my newest post. I’m still working on that one.

  5. sam k says:

Hey, we’re all keeping pretty good company here! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to have a say in the world of whiskey, and Happy Holidays to John (and the fair Amy) and all our fellow bloggers!

I think we collectively do a fine job carrying the flag.

  6. John Hansell says:

Sam, we carry the flag proudly, and we ARE making an impact.

  7. Red_Arremer says:

John, Richard Paterson notes the difficulty, of the “balancing act” that you perform with “style, humour and grace.” His observations are accurate, but convey a false image– one of incredible straining deftly concealed behind a carefully schooled persona.

In fact, your most important solution to the frequent antagonism between the whisky industry and the whisky consumer is not your ability to conceal it behind a social facade (though that does come in handy in a pinch). It is your obvious belief that this atagonism does not need to exist– obvious because of its considerable influence on the structure of this blog.

For instance, how many other forums are there that both command the respect of those in the field they follow and are also unmoderated? Not many. Which is why I keep coming back.

    Happy Holidays everyone.

Ooh, ooh. where do I come in? ;)

  9. John Hansell says:

LSD, you at #15, 20 comments behind JC Skinner, and right in front of MrTH @ #16.

  10. John, your blog resembles a gift. You say I’ve (we’ve) given, but I always get more than I give here.

  11. Neil Fusillo says:

Wow. I’m in the top 10? It’s like I’m stalking your blog, John!

As always, a pleasure to be here. The articles you write are thought-provoking, and the exchange of ideas here from such wonderful people all-round is amazing. It’s like a whisky club that I didn’t pay to join and don’t have to schedule my weeknights around to participate in.

    Here’s to a great 2010!

  12. Louis says:

    John,

Thanks for providing a nice place in cyberspace to hang out. And to the other posters, thank you for not endlessly repeating the same stale arguments, that happens in so many other forums on just about any topic.

    Slainte.

    Louis

  13. William Gaunce says:

  17. MrTH says:

  18. John Hansell says:

Mr TH, you are a very funny guy! You are now four closer!

  19. MrTH says:

There’s supposed to be a “try” in there…. The blog didn’t like me doing that. Glad you saw the humor in it–I was wishing for a ‘delete’ function! Or maybe an edit function for my brain, with stricter filters after midnight.
