A couple of websites worth checking out

July 30th, 2010

I’ve been wanting to tell you about two new websites on whisky worth checking out.

The first one, www.canadianwhisky.org, is being run by knowledgeable whisky enthusiast, Davin de Kergommeaux. The site currently reviews Canadian whisky and conducts interviews about Canadian whisky.

To quote Davin: “The site is intended to take an in-depth look at Canadian whisky, starting with some reviews, and soon to include news, technical information and so on.”

It’s still new and just building content. But, if you like Canadian whisky, you should keep an eye on it.

The second site, www.americancraftspirits.com, takes a look at the exploding craft distilling scene here in the U.S. It includes reviews, interviews, and distillery profiles (including a list of products each distiller makes).

As I discover other new sites, I’ll pass them on to you.

  1. We invite you to come check out http://www.drinkspirits.com :) We are dedicated to helping explore the world of distilled spirits beyond the things they ordinarily drink. While we do have a fair number of whisk(e)y reviews, we are really focused on presenting the wide spectrum of options. (although of course we LOVE whisky)!

  2. Kudos to the Kleinmans on the drinkspirits web site. I’ll also throw my two cents in here and ask you all to check out the Bureau of Malt Sippers (BUMS) website at http://www.scotch-tasting-bums.com

We just passed the 1000 visits per month mark on our site and are proud of the variety of pages we have to offer those exploring Scotch tasting.

Having interacted with both Davin of http://www.canadianwhisky.org and Matt Colglazier of http://www.americancraftsprits.com I can plainly say these guys know what they are doing. Both have great passion for their respective “causes” (for a lack of better term). Davin’s article on Whistlepig most recently is a must read. Based on the reviews that have come out on Whistlepig, this is exciting stuff and demonstrates just how great Canadian Whisky is. Something Davin already knew quite well.

I love Matt’s work because he covers such a wide and diverse range of American craft and artisan distilled products from boutique whiskey’s, gin, and vodka. His features on micro distillers amplifies their reach and he wants these guys to succeed. It’s better for all of us if they do.

Both of these guys know their stuff and have sites that I frequent a couple times a week.
