Going off the grid for a while

September 30th, 2010

I’m afraid that I’ll have to cut short our exciting week of opinion and debate. Due to a family emergency (my father passed away yesterday) I will not be able to continue blogging for the next several days.

Please do continue on without me. And, as I was just reminded, let’s not take all this talk about whisky too seriously. It is only whisky, after all.

My condolences, as well. It seems like everyone appears immortal until we least expect it. Our ability to remember them, think of what they did to make us what we are, makes us realize how lucky we are that they once lived. Each time I hear this from a contemporary, it always messes with my sense of equilibrium. We all take so much for granted, yet we all appreciate our parents that much more when they depart.

Your father should have been proud of your accomplishments. Half the battle is to find out what we want to do, enjoy it, and succeed in the process. Take five to contemplate, lets raise a dram out of respect, and look forward to John’s return.
