Review: Bainbridge Battle Point

Bainbridge Battle Point organic wheat whiskey, 43% ABV, $47

A small-barrel aged whiskey. The nose is sweet and fairly simple: cotton candy, wintergreen, faint menthol, and some heat. It’s hot in the mouth, too. The mint/wintergreen gives way to light caramel and sweet fudge; it’s even a bit sticky. There’s a need for more depth to balance the sweetness, and some more age to mellow the heat. More rough-edged than ‘big distiller’ whiskey at this point.  –Lew Bryson

    Nice tasting notes Lew. How is the wood on this one?

      Wood’s underdone…but that’s not really a surprise. Need a bit of pragmatism on whiskeys like this. Keep in mind; on our points scale, an 80 is still a whiskey we’d sip straight. I suspect this could make a decent cocktail, if done right.

    I can’t read the label that well, where is this being made? (what state)

    @Vince, if you click on the pic of the bottle, you can get a much larger pic. However, the front of the label doesn’t say where it was distilled or bottled. It does note that it’s made from organic Washington wheat

    For $47 that might be something I’d splurge on once to try. The notes sound interesting to me.

      Texas, just curious, have you tried to Berheim Wheated Whiskey from Heaven Hill? I dont know if you can get it where you are. I’ve had it an like it alot. Something you may want to try as well

    Sounds pretty rough– What do you mean by “sticky” Lew? That kind of intrigues me.
