On the nose there’s brown sugar, vanilla ice cream, and a prominent grape candy note. The palate is lively with spicy pepper, chocolate- covered cherries, and Concord grape jelly in the foreground, then peanuts and sweet berry preserves in the back. Neat, this one is a little hot, with water bringing out oak and addi- tional pepper while amping up the fruitiness. The finish is long, with grape and berry flavors and a hint of gingersnap cookies.
