Ampersand Vinea Kentucky Straight Rye & Cognac-Cask Aged Grain Spirit Blend, 46%

This new expression from Chip Tate is a blend of rye whiskey and 8 year old grain neutral spirits aged in cognac casks. It has a very odd nose of brown apple cores, honeydew, sugar, and mint. It’s thin on the palate, with some cognac cask-derived flavors like salted almonds, overripe fruit, and spice. The finish carries honey, spiced fruits, and oak. Lots of delicious flavors, but better integration would help.
