From nose to finish, this is dense but never overly crowded, skillfully balancing the influence of the cognac, vanilla cognac, madeira, sherry, port, vino de naranja, apricot brandy, and winter bock finishing casks. On the nose, there’s salted caramel, glazed doughnuts, blueberry syrup, and toasted graham cracker. The sweet aromas carry over to the lively palate, accented by pepper and oak. As it develops in the glass, rye spice and sweet mint—reminiscent of a Julep—come to the forefront. The finish balances charred oak with cinnamon candy sweetness.
