Blue Run Blueprint Series, 52.5%

For this inaugural Blueprint bourbon, Blue Run combined two mashbills, one wheated, the other comprised of 80% corn, 15% rye, and 5% malted barley. The nose is a touch reticent and slightly musty, yielding Ovaltine, sugar cookie, simple syrup, and chocolate-covered strawberries. Much more chocolate arrives on the palate, though there’s also a pop of black pepper, pound cake, and red fruit. Chocolate crinkle cookies and berry fruit combine for an alluring finish.
