A whiff of woodsmoke greets the nose; it’s soon accented by torched orange peel, barrel char, mesquite flames, teak, old book pages, and a hint of cooked meat. The palate, which is full-bodied and flavorful, takes off in a differen direction, as a rush of fruit emerges: raspberry jam, orange peel, dried apricot, and a bit of licorice. A long, complex finish introduces more berry brightness, buttery pastry, dark chocolate, and balanced wood spice.
