An initial smoky blast from the glass with charred peat, hot asphalt, carbolic soap, dunnage earth, diesel engines, and peppery smoke, followed by chocolate, coffee bean, red apple, and citrus peel as a greater balance is established. Lovely weight, with cooked apple, barley sugar, peppery smoke, and ginger, and with water there’s greater maltiness, bourbon biscuit, and toasted oak notes. (1,500 bottles for the U.S.)
