Fettercairn Looks to Make Its Mark in America

An exciting new Scotch has finally arrived in America...though one that already has a 200 year old legacy back home.

Fettercairn Single Malt Scotch Whisky has been produced in Scotland’s Highlands since 1824, a hidden gem amongst locals in the thriving agricultural community of Aberdeenshire, sometimes known as “The Garden of Scotland.” U.S. connoisseurs and collectors have begged brand owners Whyte and Mackay for stateside distribution of Fettercairn for years. This year, they’ll finally have a chance to try Fettercairn’s one-of-a-kind house style created by decades of innovative production techniques.

“At Fettercairn we always strive to explore what is possible within single malt Scotch whisky,” says Stewart Walker, Distillery Manager who has worked at Fettercairn for 35 years.

He cites the distillery’s beautiful copper cooling ring as a prime example of the distillery’s unique innovations. This technique involves drenching the whisky stills with crystal-clear water from the nearby Cairngorm Mountains, a process which rapidly cools the copper, allowing only the lightest vapors to rise. This results in a unique tropical flavor profile which offers signature notes of exotic fruit, caramelized spice, and refined oak.

“It’s a technique that transformed our whisky,” says Walker, “creating a spirit that’s fresh, vibrant, and unmistakably Fettercairn.”

Alas, only a small number of eager Americans will get a shot at the first U.S. release of Fettercairn with highly-allocated bottles going to select luxury retail and high-end dining venues, mostly in California, New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Texas. The expressions will include 500 bottles each of Fettercairn 24-Year-Old (SRP $650) and Fettercairn 28-Year-Old ($1,250), and a mere 35 bottles each of Fettercairn 40-Year-Old ($6,000), Fettercairn 46-Year-Old ($19,000), and Fettercairn 50-Year-Old ($37,000). These will surely be among the most coveted whisky releases of the year.

But this launch is just the beginning, a little introduction to Fettercairn ahead of further announcements to come in 2026. Anice Kim-Saunders, Vice President of Marketing for Fettercairn in North America, expects the country’s most discerning whisky fans to be mightily excited. As she says:

“Fettercairn has always been for those with an open mind and who embrace curiosity.”
