An unconventional tart aroma overlays the dark jammy fruit, baking spices, Coca-Cola, leather, and dark chocolate-covered almonds of the nose, and it carries through to the palate, which has a ponzu-like character: citrus and umami. There's also dark chocolate, ample spice, roasted nuts, tobacco, and dried apricots, all held together on a full-bodied, chewy mouthfeel. Excellent length on the finish, with savory oak, dark chocolate, nuts, and persistent spice—and that unusual tart flavor. Quirky and delightful.
