Green Spot Quails' Gate

ABV: 46% Price: $70 Style: Irish Single Pot Still Origin: Ireland

This Green Spot expression is the third bottling in its Wine Geese Series, a tribute to the Irish diaspora. It’s finished for 16 months in pinot noir casks from British Columbia winemaker Quails’ Gate, owned by the Stewart family, whose ancestors emigrated from Ireland to Canada over a century ago. There’s nice spiciness on the nose, followed by a palate of abundant spice flavors along with red apple, cherry, berries, candied orange, lemon, and vanilla. The spice isn’t quite done yet, as it punctuates a pleasantly balanced finish. —David Fleming
