Made from Okinawan Indica rice and black koji, the nose has a concentrated fruitiness of dried mango, passion fruit, baked orange, fresh oak, and caramel. It’s fair to say that rice whiskies have more subtle aromas than malt whiskies. The palate is light, with vanilla, stewed fruits, baked apple, prune, ripe fig, and oak tannin, but it hits its stride quickly without much further flavor development. A pleasant sipper.
