Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Specialty Barrel Series Chinquapin, 52.5%

A new addition to the Grain to Glass Series featuring chinquapin oak. Fresh oak is readily present on the nose, alongside fudge, caramel, and baking spices. The palate is hot for its proof, dry and ashy, with some sugared black coffee and dark chocolate against bitter oak. It’s smoother with water, but doesn’t have a lot of dimension. The finish is similarly hot and dry, with no real progression of flavor.
