Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Specialty Barrel Series Chinquapin Kentucky Straight Wheated, 52.5%

Made using Heaven Hill’s traditional heavily wheated mashbill, but aged in a different type of oak barrel, in this case spending 7 years in Missouri-grown chinquapin oak, a tree native to the midwestern U.S. It has apricot on the nose; on the palate it’s chewy and inviting, smacking of cocoa cereal milk wrapped around hearty, bracing wood. Water brings out even more woodiness, and the chocolate notes linger.
