Kilchoman Maury Cask Matured, 50%

Maury is a sweet fortified wine made in France’s Roussillon region. This was not finished in Maury casks—it was fully matured in them, a first for Kilchoman. The aroma is oddly sweet, while a sip brings a mix of blackberry jam, dark chocolate, candied yams and Cuban coffee, loaded with enough sugar to make the spoon stand in the cup. Water brings out more coffee, with a touch of mocha and savory peat smoke. Sweet, rich, and memorable.
