An Empire rye through and through, this single barrel whiskey was made from 72% rye, 16% corn, and 12% malted barley. There’s a lot to mull on the nose, with scents like ripe plum, lemon curd, cinnamon-raisin bread, and hibiscus tea. The palate is viscous and hot, hot, hot, but the cinnamon syrup heat is balanced by light char and dark chocolate. That chocolate and lingering heat make this rye a heavy hitter.
