Lost Lantern Single Cask Series: Spirit Works 10 year old, 69.6%

This California rye shows its age immediately in the lovely oak-forward notes on the nose, which include vanilla, toasted marshmallow, Moroccan mint tea, and lemon meringue. The palate is velvety in texture and definitely hot, but not overwhelmingly so, as cinnamon pastries are met with dark chocolate, oak, and a hint of char. Black espresso on the finish, which lingers on and on.
