Mortlach Midnight Dusk (Diageo Special Releases 2024), 57.5%

The aromas are calming and relaxing, though the high alcohol is noticeable. There are floral notes, rose hip, aromatherapy oils, lychee, and lemon peel. The palate has light peach, nectarine, vanilla, star fruit, and some robust Mortlach spiciness with red chile, clove, and pepper. Those spices last through to the finish, accompanied by red currant jelly and Black Forest gateau. Water seems unable to cool the inherent spiciness.
