This MGP-sourced high-rye bourbon marks the return of Redemption’s Ancients Series, which launched in 2017 with a pair of ultra-aged whiskeys. Given its ripe old age, the bright nose is somewhat surprising (though not unwelcome); there’s heaps of orange peel, gradually fading into cherry, pound cake, and caramel syrup. The rye becomes more evident on the palate, where peppery spice and baking spice meld, joined by luscious cherry, oak, and tobacco leaf. The finish is well spiced and leaves you ready for another sip.
