The initial aromas bring woodsmoke on a creamy background, becoming coastal with iodine, brine, and sizzling bacon fat joined by hints of chocolate, smoked nuts, and herbal notes. It's mouth-drawing, with a wild, outrageous spice intensity: red apple, thick smoke, black pepper, fennel, bell pepper, pomegranate, candied peel, nduja, and red chile. It's not on the label, but this batch was finished in full-sized Laphroaig casks. (Colorado only)
