Finishing scotch in a wine barrel isn’t a novel concept, but doing so in a cask that once held a first-growth Bordeaux takes the idea to a different level. This has an extremely dark color that’s reminiscent of cola, with an earthy nose that also has guava, kiwi, and other tropical fruits. The first sip rewards you with sweetness—toasted pralines and baked apples call you in—followed by chocolate that lasts through the finish.
