Dark fruit notes greet the nose: stewed fruit, quince, dates, rum-soaked spiced fruitcake, and baked apples. Though the mouthfeel is soft and delicate, the flavors are biting, and not in an unpleasant way; there’s cracked black pepper, Red Hots, burnt toast, and charcoal, all of which create a lasting heat. Black tea, spearmint, and a hint of golden apple give an herbaceous edge to the finish.
