For Wes Henderson’s (co-founder of Angel’s Envy) return to whiskey, he turned to amburana and sherry casks, and their effects are palpable on this blend of straight ryes. The cinnamon-forward nose is a tad soapy, and rife with sassafras, blueberry maple syrup, and canned peaches. On the palate, the lightweight texture carries a superabundance of cinnamon; more flavors come forward on the finish and stabilize the cinnamon, among them dark chocolate and espresso.
