Despite NASCAR’s whiskey roots, prior to 2005 distilled spirits companies were not permitted to affiliate with NASCAR. The race organization prohibited spirits companies from sponsorship. It lifted the ban on the condition that sponsoring companies have a strong responsible consumption campaign.

Diageo’s Crown Royal was the first to sign a deal with Rousch Racing. Soon after, Brown Forman’s Jack Daniel’s advertisements adorned a Richard Childress Racing car, and Clyde May’s sponsors the Talladega Superspeedway, to name a few.

Yesterday, the latest whiskey-NASCAR partnership was revealed by Nelson's Green Brier. The Nashville-based distillery has announced its one-race sponsorship of NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Stefan Parsons’s Chevrolet Camaro and suit for the race that will be held on June 24th at the Nashville Superspeedway.
