A crack of black pepper, a little cassis, lemon-poppyseed muffin, vanilla pudding, Frosted Flakes, and a dollop of honey point the nose in an endlessly appealing direction. On the palate, sugar and spice and everything nice—cinnamon powder and black peppercorn are accompanied by sweeter notes of crème brûlée and French toast topped with powdered sugar. It finishes with just-charred pie crust, gingersnaps, and a lick of orange peel.
