The nose bursts with heady cinnamon spice, candied nuts, yogurt-covered raisins, and caramelized orange. The awamori cask—which previously held the traditional Japanese spirit made from long-grain rice—comes forth more forcefully on the palate, as hot, hot, hot cinnamon and toasted coconut meld with earthier, somewhat briny notes. Darker overripe fruit on the finish, which benefits from the addition of water. (Release date: 8/24)
