June 8, 2017 –––––– Susannah Skiver Barton
Lovers of aged bourbon, take note: You can now buy six Orphan Barrel whiskeys in one classy package. The Orphan Barrel Archive Collection brings together past releases, including:
Barterhouse—The first release in the Orphan Barrel series, a 20 year old Kentucky straight bourbon. Whisky Advocate score: 90 points
Old Blowhard—A 26 year old Kentucky straight bourbon. Whisky Advocate score: 81 points
Lost Prophet—A 22 year old Kentucky straight bourbon. Whisky Advocate score: 92 points
Rhetoric 21 year old—The second release in the Rhetoric series (Rhetoric 23 year old just came out earlier this spring), which will eventually top out with a 25 year old Kentucky straight bourbon in 2019. Whisky Advocate score: 83 points
Forged Oak—A 15 year old Kentucky straight bourbon. Whisky Advocate score: 91 points
Whoop & Holler—One of the most recent releases, a 28 year old American whiskey. Whisky Advocate score: 79 points
The whiskeys—all full-size bottles—come in a wooden crate, and the total package costs $1,500. It's a pricy purchase, but bear in mind that, added up, the six whiskeys represent 132 years of age. That's a lot of maturity!
Needless to say, this is a limited-time offering. If you're interested in buying the set for yourself, you'll have to get to Kentucky, the only state where it's currently available.
