Buffalo Trace has created an exciting new way for bourbon lovers to sample the distillery’s notoriously hard-to-find whiskeys: The Buffalo Trace Distillery On Tour. A traveling tasting experience, the U.S. debut will kick off by visiting four cities in October, and the best part is it’s free with online registration.
The tour will stop in St. Louis and Kansas City, Missouri, and Jacksonville and Tampa, Florida, next month, and the pouring will take place in modern, high-style event spaces in each of those cities. Each stop will feature pours of Buffalo Trace bourbon, Eagle Rare 10 year old, Weller Antique 107, and Sazerac 100 proof rye, which will be served during a 90-minute guided tasting experience. The distillery has teased that some whiskey surprises may also be available. There is no charge to attend as long as guests pre-register here. Registration opened in mid-September and sold out within hours, but fear not—additional availability has been added for each city in the hopes of accommodating more guests. Tickets for these added tasting sessions go live on Wednesday, September 24 at 11 a.m. CT. Between 40 and 80 tickets have been added for each location, and it’s likely they’ll sell out quickly, too.
Each city was set to host 10 tasting experiences spread over four days to maximize the tour’s reach, and three additional tastings have been added at each locale in light of the fast initial sell-out. In addition to sampling whiskeys, guests will also have exclusive access to city-specific branded Buffalo Trace barware. Items for sale will include leather-wrapped rocks glasses and leather coasters, each featuring detailing that reflects the host city. Additional Buffalo Trace-branded merchandise will also be sold, though no whiskey will be available for purchase.
This is Buffalo Trace’s first U.S. tasting tour, although the brand has held similar experiences in Europe. In 2024, the company debuted Buffalo Trace Distillery London, and with it opened an immersive brand center that briefly offered sample pours of rare whiskeys like George T. Stagg, Weller 12-year-old, Pappy Van Winkle 23, OFC (Old Fashioned Copper), and Eagle Rare 25. Once samples of those ran out, Buffalo Trace offered more accessible whiskey pours, and it also created themed flights and other sampling experiences in the space. Also last year, in advance of the Summer Olympics in Paris, Buffalo Trace unveiled a pop-up shop and lounge in the City of Light that offered a variety of whiskey tastings. While the Paris location was only open for five weeks, the London satellite distillery is still operating and welcoming guests.
Currently, Buffalo Trace has no plans to add additional U.S. cities to its Distillery On Tour series. However, company reps say they will use the feedback they receive from this first set of tasting events to shape future potential experiences.
“Our tasting events are designed to be unique to each market,” says Ed Bell, Buffalo Trace Distillery’s homeplace director. “We want to share different aspects of our portfolio with audiences across the globe, which means no two events will be exactly the same. In the U.S., we’re highlighting a mix of our core lineup alongside some special offerings that we believe will surprise and delight guests. Just as with our tastings in London and Paris, the goal is always to offer something inclusive, memorable, and new for each audience.”
