Roaring onto screens this month, “F1 The Movie” is a high-octane action thriller starring Brad Pitt that just might be this summer’s blockbuster. The movie was filmed over two years alongside actual Formula 1 race weekends, and director Joseph Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”) delivers all the racing thrills and off-track dramas from the paddock to keep theater goers on the edge of their seats. Sonny Hayes (Pitt) is a retired F1 driver from the 1990s, persuaded to return to the sport by APXGP team boss Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), his former teammate, to help save the team. For Hayes, getting the seat gives him one last shot at F1 glory, and a chance to silence the demons of his past. He’s partnered with rookie driver Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), and tension between both sides of the garage grows quickly, with APXGP’s tenacious technical director Kate McKenna (Kerry Condon) caught in the middle, as the teammates compete for dominance on the track, pitting raw talent against experience. From Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures, “F1 The Movie” is in theaters beginning June 27th.

Formula 1 is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year with 24 races across a packed 2025 F1 season. Oscar Piastri won the first of this season’s three U.S. races in Miami in May. Still to come on U.S. soil are the United States Grand Prix, scheduled for Austin on October 19th, and the Las Vegas Grand Prix planned for November 22nd.

Thanks to Netflix’s successful show “Drive to Survive,” the sport has never been more popular globally, with the fan base now growing in the U.S. as new circuits in Miami and Las Vegas have been added to the race calendar. Formula 1 team sponsorship crosses multiple sectors from finance, crypto, credit, software, energy, logistics, tech, airlines, chemical, oil, luxury goods, watches, food, and drink. Here’s a round-up of whisky and other spirits brands featured on current Formula 1 cars (listed by team) as the 2025 season heats up and “F1 The Movie” is released.

Jack Daniel’s has backed a winner. This partnership has been running since 2023, with Jack Daniel's releasing annual limited-edition expressions combining the McLaren’s famous papaya team colors with Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Tennessee whiskey: the latest MCL X JD 2025 release upped the strength to 43% from 40%. McLaren won the 2024 constructors’ championship, and with a quick race car, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have netted McLaren the highest number of wins in the first third of the 2025 F1 season, putting them out front in both the drivers’ and constructors’ world championships.

Chivas Regal x Ferrari

Chivas Regal is now an official team partner of Scuderia Ferrari HP Formula One and it has launched a Tifosi Tartan, while Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc is named as a Chivas Regal global brand ambassador. The sponsorship deal was commemorated with a single bottle of Glenfiddich 1959 65 year old, unveiled at the 2024 Las Vegas F1 race weekend, a year that signified Aston Martin’s debut in Formula One in the DBR4. More exclusive bottles are planned through the Glenfiddich Collective. Aston Martin has had a difficult season and was running 9th in the constructors’ championship, with Lance Stroll’s best result coming with a 6th place finish in the wet race in Melbourne, Australia, while two-time champion Fernando Alonso finally picked up his first points of the season at his home race in Spain.

Patrón Tequila x Red Bull

Oracle Red Bull Racing terminated its contract with Mexican driver Sergio Pérez after the end of the 2024 F1 season, but Patrón tequila has continued its sponsorship of the race team for now. Liam Lawson replaced Pérez to partner current Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen at Red Bull, but was demoted to Racing Bulls, their junior team, after two races, and the seat went to Yuki Tsunoda. Red Bull is also sponsored by the no-alcohol beer brand Heineken 0.0.

Moët Hennessy x F1

Aside from individual team sponsorships, Formula 1 has a number of global partners, including LVMH, and under that, Moët Hennessy, which includes its wine and spirits “maisons.” That includes Glenmorangie, Ardbeg, Woodinville, and SirDavis, while Moët & Chandon is the official champagne of F1, and Belvedere is the official vodka of F1.
