“Yellowstone” actor and country music singer Luke Grimes has teamed up with Utah-based High West Distillery to support its “Protect the West” campaign. The effort aims to help preserve the Western landscape of the U.S. by supporting local charities that focus on initiatives like land preservation, wildfire prevention, and climate resilience. To increase exposure, High West has launched an online sweepstakes with Grimes as the spokesperson.
The High West Protect the West sweepstakes runs through July 25, allowing consumers to enter via the brand’s Instagram by following @DrinkHighWest. Grimes is making a collaborative post with High West about the campaign, and social media followers are encouraged to comment on the post, sharing which Western United States locale they’d most like to help protect. Those who comment by July 25 will be entered into a random drawing, with a winner chosen in early August.
The prize is designed for whiskey lovers and adventurers—all entrants must be U.S. residents—and includes a four-day, three-night trip for the winner and a guest to Park City and High West Distillery in nearby Wanship, Utah. The prize package includes airfare, hotel accommodations, transportation, and dining, with the Western getaway allowing the winner and a guest to experience the High West lifestyle firsthand.
With Grimes as its new ambassador, High West hopes to gain increased consumer attention for its Protect the West campaign. Grimes filmed “Yellowstone” in Park City and frequented the High West Saloon there while in town. Grimes is a whiskey enthusiast and advocate for Western-style living, and High West says the actor-singer will help amplify its campaign message through storytelling and awareness efforts on social media, with the ultimate goal to inspire people to take action and get involved in Western preservation.
High West has already donated more than $1 million to nonprofit organizations committed to land preservation and environmental stewardship through its Protect the West campaign, which launched in 2022. The distillery created the effort in response to the climate change issues that have arisen in Utah since its founding in 2006. Partnering with Grimes will further the initiative by helping High West reach a broader audience. So far, High West has provided financial donations to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, Protect Our Winters, and American Prairie. The American Prairie organization buys private land and opens it to the public, and currently manages over 500,000 acres of western land.
High West is also partnered with Olympic snowboarding gold medalist Shaun White (2006, 2010, 2018) on similar initiatives to protect the West.
