Knob Creek is Back With Its 18 Year Old

Knob Creek today unveiled a new limited run for its Knob Creek 18 year old bourbon label. It’s being sold nationally at retail for $170 a 750 ml bottle. Knob Creek 18 is also being sold as a set with a cast iron skillet from Charleston, South Carolina-based Smithey Ironware, a designer of hand-forged carbon steel cookware. The set can be procured on Smitheys website.

Knob Creek 18 year old was first introduced last fall as the oldest Knob Creek ever released, in celebration of the whiskey’s 30th anniversary. The core Knob Creek label is a 9 year old, and Knob Creek also offers a 12 year old that was Whisky Advocate’s No.-2 whisky of year in 2020, scoring 95 points.

In the not-too-distant past, Knob Creek faced serious stock shortages. In 2016, owner James B. Beam Distilling Co was forced to take the age statement off the core 9 year old, and didn’t restore it until 2021. And back in 2009, the distillery actually ran out of Knob Creek for a short time while it waited for batches to fully mature. In a tongue-in-cheek response, Knob Creek sent out sealed, empty bottles of Knob Creek to whiskey writers to make light of the situation, a move that received a mixed reception at best!
