Diageo has announced the latest release in its Orphan Barrel series. Called Indigo’s Hour, it’s a straight bourbon made from a mashbill of 68% corn, 28% rye, and 4% malt, aged for 18 years. Indigo’s Hour is sourced from Indiana-based MGP, though Diageo has done its level best to note that the maturation took place in Kentucky and the bottling at Cascade Hollow Distillery in Tennessee.

The whiskey’s label is themed as a tribute to its "journey," featuring a butterfly, a Kentucky tree, and a landscape scene inspired by the countryside around Cascade Hollow in Tennessee. The butterfly is the Pipevine Swallowtail, said to be the most colorful of the species in Indiana (where the whiskey was distilled). The tree in question is the Witches’ Tree, a gnarled old maple located at 6th Street and Park Avenue in Louisville. A local and tourist attraction of sorts, here it's meant to honor the city where the whiskey was aged. The landscape scene in the label’s background was inspired by a creek that sits among the rivers and marshlands in Cascade Hollow, Tullahoma, Tennessee, where the whiskey was bottled.

Indigo’s Hour is at 45% ABV and is available in limited quantities nationwide at a suggested retail price of $225.
