In scotch whisky, Ledaig, the peated label of Torbermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, has released a cask strength 10 year old, while Oban offers a very sherried 15 year old. From the Irish whiskey space, Midleton Very Rare's 2025 Edition uses six different whiskeys of two styles—three single pot still and three grain. Of equal interest is Dingle's U.S. debut of a single pot still whiskey, while Natterjack introduces The Deliberate Mistake, aged in virgin oak casks for a year longer than intended.

ABV: 58.8%
SRP:
$113
Availability: 7,000 bottles worldwide

Ledaig is Tobermory Distillery’s peated label (the Isle of Mull distillery also makes the Tobermory unpeated label). This new single malt was aged in bourbon barrels and is Ledaig’s first-ever cask-strength 10 year old, and the distillery is billing it as a one-off, with just 7,000 bottles available. It also holds the distinction of being the first age statement release drawn from Tobermory’s new stills, which were installed in 2014. In describing this limited-edition whisky, master blender Julieann Fernandez says it’s “peat-packed” and “salt-laced,” a fire in comparison to the smolder of the core Ledaig 10 year old. Hebridean Moon takes its name from Mull’s Baliscate Stones; these standing stones were markers of the lunar cycle in ancient times, as well as symbols of renewal and rebirth.

The whisky is the second single malt made in partnership with a local Mull charity, the Mull and Iona Community Trust, and as such, £20,000 from the release will go toward the Trust and its work in preserving Mull’s environment. It also features label photography by Mull native Gordon Buchanan, who previously provided label artwork for Ledaig Triple Wood.

ABV: 55.3%
SRP: $150
Availability: Limited

Oban’s new limited edition 15 year old single malt leans heavily on sherry casks. After maturing in a mix of European oak butts and American oak hogsheads, the whisky was transferred into a mix of oloroso and palo cortado sherry casks. The finishing vessels were sourced from Andalusia, Spain. The whisky is said to have notes of dried fruit, toasted almonds, and salinity, which the distillery says makes it a perfect pairing partner for charcuterie boards.

ABV: 40%
SRP: $350
Availability: Limited annual release; imported by Pernod Ricard USA

Midleton master distiller Kevin O’Gorman has unveiled the 42nd edition of Midleton Very Rare. Blended from scratch once a year, each release fits the American oak-led profile of Midleton Very Rare but is otherwise unique: The twist for Vintage 2025 is that the recipe used six styles of single pot still and single grain whiskeys spanning four decades. The three styles of grain whiskey matured in refill casks include Midleton’s signature grain, a 21 year old grain, and a highly unusual 22 year old grain made from a combination of malted and unmalted barley. The single pot still contribution is also higher this year, with a greater reliance on first-fill American oak casks, which O’Gorman felt brought the whole composition into balance. The Old Midleton Distillery was founded in 1825, and the Vintage 2025 label has an illustration of the distillery, its iconic pot stills, and a commemorative 200th anniversary stamp.

ABV: 52.5%
SRP: $150

The third release in Dingle’s Celtic Wheel of the Year series marks the distillery’s single pot still debut in the U.S. market. Distilled on the edge of Ireland’s west coast, the whiskey was matured in bourbon barrels before being finished in Australian shiraz wine casks for 30–36 months. Bealtaine is celebrated on May 1st, ushering in brighter days and warmer weather, and is marked by the lighting of ritual bonfires whose smoke is believed to cleanse and protect healthy livestock.

Natterjack-The-Deliberate-Mistake-300.pngNatterjack The Deliberate Mistake Irish Blend

SRP: $50
ABV: 46%
Availability: Permanent release available in 20 states; imported by MHW Ltd.

Natterjack Irish whiskey released The Mistake in 2024, the result of a mistake whereby the blend was left in virgin oak barrels for two years instead of one. Now, the Natterjack team, led by founder Aidan Mehigan with master blender Jordan Via, has replicated the heavily oaked method in an attempt to recapture the flavor of the original release. The virgin oak finishing produces a flavor profile that’s designed to appeal to bourbon drinkers.
