Whisky Watch: Old Fitzgerald's Spring Release, Torabhaig Unveils Its House Style, & More
June 26, 2026 –––––– Julia Higgins
As the country’s 250th anniversary draws near, American whiskey makers both storied and small-scale are debuting new releases. In bourbon, Heaven Hill has introduced the Spring 2026 edition of its Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond, while Blade and Bow has a new 12 year old blended with solera whiskeys. Elsewhere, Buzzard’s Roost is back with a new patriotic single barrel bourbon, Pursuit Spirits has created a bourbon built for smoked meats, and Wooler Whiskey has introduced its inaugural bourbon. There are a handful of American single malts being unveiled this week too, among them Silver Brothers’ first batch of the style and a new iteration from Pilot House. Coors has added a third whiskey to its stable, this one a blended American malt. And from Scotland, Isle of Skye-based Torabhaig Distillery has released a new single malt that it says will be the blueprint for its core house style.
Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Spring 2026 Edition)
ABV: 50%
SRP: $150
Availability: Limited
The first Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond Decanter Series release of the year was distilled in the Spring of 2016, making it a 10 year old bourbon. This puts it well below the oldest Decanter Series release—Fall 2022’s 19 year old—but more or less in line with more recent editions, including last fall’s 11 year old release. Heaven Hill has augmented its Old Fitzgerald lineup in recent years, debuting a permanent 7 year old in June 2025.
Blade and Bow 12 Year Old Solera Reserve Bourbon
ABV: 52%
SRP: $65
Availability: Limited
In making Blade and Bow’s latest bourbon, Nicole Austin—director of American whiskey liquid development and capabilities at brand owner Diageo—utilized a solera system that includes cognac, Bordeaux red wine, muscatel, and port barrels. This whiskey started as 12 year old Kentucky straight bourbon, which was blended with solera whiskeys. It’ll be available starting next month in Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas, as well as at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery (where, beginning July 17th, a Blade and Bow flight experience will be offered featuring the flagship Blade and Bow whiskey as well as Solera Reserve and 22 year old).
Coors Blended American Malt
ABV: 55.25%
SRP: $80
Availability: 1,200 bottles
U.S. brewer Coors has added another whiskey to its stable, rounding out a trio that also includes Five Trail Unbroken Spirit American whiskey and the Barmen 1783 label. The new whiskey homes in on Coors’ malting expertise: It’s crafted from both Coors malt and Colorado malt, and aged for 8 years. The blended malt is relatively limited, available only in Colorado and Illinois, though Coors notes that more innovative releases are on the way.
Buzzard’s Roost Red, White, & Roost Double Oak Bourbon

Buzzard’s Roost is celebrating America’s 250th birthday with a new patriotically themed single barrel release. This one is 6 years old and has a mashbill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. In keeping with the brand’s signature style, it was finished in lightly charred and custom-toasted new oak barrels.
Pursuit Spirits x Meat Church Honey Hog Barrel Bourbon
ABV: 52.5%
SRP: $80
Availability: Pursuit bottle shop starting July 1; Texas retail and online sales to follow
Calling all barbecue lovers: Pursuit Spirits has partnered with Matt Pittman, founder and CEO of Meat Church, to purpose-build a bourbon for pairing with smoked meats. The expression, which aims to mirror the flavor profile of Pittman’s Honey Hog BBQ seasoning, blends liquid from Bardstown Bourbon Co. (78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% malted barley) and an undisclosed Tennessee producer (80% corn, 10% rye, 10% malted barley). It was finished for 3 months in barrels that previously held Burleson's Texas Wildflower honey.
Wooler Whiskey Straight Bourbon
ABV: 45%
SRP: $40
Availability: California and Georgia, with more states to follow
Jason Wooler—former executive vice president at California distributor Young’s Market Co. and co-founder of banana-infused bourbon brand Howler Head—is back in the game after recovering from a severe stroke he suffered in 2021. His new bourbon was aged for at least 5 years and it has a mashbill of 72% corn, 18% rye, 5% malted barley, and 5% wheat. It was distilled by an undisclosed producer in Bardstown, Kentucky.
Silver Brothers American Single Malt Batch No. 1
ABV: 46%
SRP: $78
Availability: Limited
A month after opening the doors of their Hudson Valley distillery to the public, Silver Brothers has introduced its second whiskey: a 3 year old American single malt. The new release is a marriage of two barrels, both filled in May 2023. It’s made from New York-grown barley; while this initial batch features grains sourced from partner growers, eventually it will include barley from the Silver Brothers farm. Distillery co-owner Matthew Greitzer says the single malt is rife with notes of citrus, sugar cookie, toasted marshmallow, and stone fruit, and also emphasizes a slate minerality that comes through on the finish, tying it back to the slate bedrock that lies beneath the distillery.
Silver Brothers American single malt is available for pre-order online, and will start shipping on July 4th —the same date it will become available at the Old Chatham, New York distillery.
Pilot House Distilling Barrel & Tide Straight American Single Malt
ABV: 40%
Price: $60
Availability: Limited
Oregon distiller Pilot House has unveiled its latest American single malt under a new banner. The Barrel & Tide name nods to the whisky-making and the maritime traditions of the distillery’s home in Astoria on the Oregon coast. The whiskey is made from 100% Northern American-sourced barley that’s distilled and aged 2 to 5 years in new American oak barrels on-site. It joins a diverse portfolio including finished-at-sea A-O single malts, limited-release whiskey, absinthe, gin, vodka, and more. It’s available at Pilot House tasting rooms in Astoria, Cannon Beach, and Portland, at select Oregon and Washington retailers, and online with shipping to Alaska, Arizona, Oregon, and D.C.
Torabhaig Taigh Single Malt Scotch
ABV: 46%
SRP: $50
Availability: California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York
Skye-based distillery Torabhaig has unveiled its first core expression, which follows in the footsteps of its limited-edition Legacy Series bottlings. Torabhaig Taigh—Taigh is pronounced tie, which is Gaelic for house—is a lightly peated whisky aged predominantly in first-fill and refill bourbon barrels, but it also includes a small selection of madeira casks, which are used for both full-term maturation and finishing. Torabhaig said the name was inspired by its plan to use this as the distillery’s house style going forward as more of its stocks come of age.
